Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre

Destination

Fittingly, “Te Pae” translates to gathering place, and that’s exactly what it will be for ASBESTOS 2027.

Opened in 2022 as part of Christchurch’s post-earthquake rebuild, Te Pae sits on the banks of the Ōtākaro Avon River and was purpose-built for exactly this kind of event, bringing people together to share knowledge, solve problems and drive an industry forward. The venue’s design draws on the region’s braided rivers and local cultural narrative, creating a setting that feels distinctly of this place rather than a generic conference box.

Sustainability sits at the centre of how Te Pae operates. The venue holds Toitū net carbonzero certification, meeting internationally recognised standards for measuring and reducing emissions — a fitting match for a conference focused on long-term, responsible solutions to one of our industry’s biggest challenges.

It’s a venue with a story not unlike our own theme: built from the ground up with purpose, designed to bring people together, and committed to doing things the right way.
