Call for Presenters

The ASBESTOS 2026 Conference will serve as a critical platform to share knowledge, showcase best practice, and drive change — ensuring that awareness leads to action, and action results in real impact for workers, communities, and future generations.

We invite you to submit a brief abstract (no more than 250 words) outlining your proposed presentation (length 15-20 minutes) that addresses our main theme and related abstract opportunities:

Theme: Awareness | Action | IMPACT

The conference will bring together international experts, regulators, researchers, practitioners, and community voices to explore the changing landscape of asbestos management and its human impacts. With the guiding theme of Awareness | Action | IMPACT, the program is structured into three streams, each addressing critical aspects of the asbestos journey — from understanding risks to implementing solutions and supporting those affected.

AWARENESS – Building Knowledge and Understanding

This stream focuses on advancing awareness of asbestos risks, science, and global developments.

Abstract opportunities include:

  • International perspectives and insights
  • Risk communication
  • Particle toxicology, nano/ultrafine fibres, and new technologies
  • Geological awareness: fibrous minerals and naturally occurring asbestos
  • Climate change impacts on ACMs
  • Emerging work models: asbestos tasks on platforms like AirTasker and in CALD/labour hire contexts

IMPACT – Health, Care & Future Outcomes

This stream connects asbestos management with health outcomes, mesothelioma research, and community resilience.

Abstract opportunities include:

  • Advances in mesothelioma treatment and patient care
  • Disease diagnosis research and epidemiology
  • Support systems for nursing, carers, and families
  • Future frameworks for insurance, real estate, and DIY responsibilities
